Leander offers an excellent school system, affordable living, great nature and the close proximity to Austin. There are about 30,000 people living in Leander.
Leander ISD continues to be one of the nation’s fastest growing school districts. The district currently has 21 elementary schools with 2 more opening in the fall of 2009. Six middle schools and four high schools serve as the secondary schools, with one more of each opening in the fall of 2010. There are also two alternative schools to serve the district. Six of these schools were rated exemplary by the Texas Education Agency.

Leander is close to nature, including lakes, rolling hills and wildlife. The City of Leander manages four parks which have various amenities including soccer fields, softball fields, pavilions, hike and bike trails, a BMX track, a skate park, a disc golf course, fishing, play scapes, baseball fields, a swimming pool, BBQ grills, a basketball court and an amphitheater. Lake Travis, a huge recreational lake, is also nearby. Crystal Falls Golf Course, an 18-hole course, is located in Leander.
Leander also boats a state-of-the-art library and a live theater company. The Parks Department hosts several programs and events throughout the year.
Austin Capital Metro is currently working on the first commuter rail that will connect Leander to central Austin. It is 32 miles of track in which new trains will transport people every 30 minutes during morning and evening rush hours. It will have nine stations to start and some will have rail connector buses to transfer travelers to their final destination.
