Help with my disc golf drive?
I use a Champion Valkyrie for my drives. I used to use a DX Wraith. My drives are usually only around 150 ft to 200 ft tops. I am 14 yrs old and im not sure if its my stance thats wrong or its just because of my age. I use the X-Step by the way.
Switching from the Wraith to a Valkyrie was a good move. The Wraith is for more experienced players with big arms.
If you stick with backhand drives then it’s all about arm speed, wrist snap, and your grip. Stand at the front of the tee pad and work on the wrist snap and grip then when you start to feel comfortable with you throw then start working on adding your X-step into your drive.
Your grip should be similar to holding a pencil or spoon. Make our hand like you are holding pencil then put your disc in your hand while it’s still in that position. Your thumb should be close to the rim on the top of the disc and your fingers should be curled comfortably under the rim of the disc.
Sidearm is good for beginners to get good distance but it’s much more difficult to put good Hyzer and Anhyzer on the disc. So if you play straighter courses, this would be a good drive for you but if there are alot of trees and bends in the holes, stick with backhand.
